Tourist serendipity. We had 2 or so hours to kill before our bus was leaving so we decided to find the local "waterfall." It was intriguing partially because we couldn't see where a waterfall could be in this landscape. We followed the directions and came upon this public bath. All ages and sexes wash themselves and their clothing here. Most of the baths are lower than this picture. We were trying to be sensitive to some type of privacy, although I don't know if they cared other than we were strangers. Women washed fully clothed and changed into dry sari. Goats roamed freely on throughout although we didn't get a picture of them. I guess there was confusion in word choice of "waterfall" Marahati and Hindi. Marahati is the local language and almost people speak some amount of Hindi. |
